Today I come with a rather different topic, tips for oily skin, because it’s meant for people with oily skin only.
I will provide you with tips that I use on a regular basis, that have worked for me and I sure hope works for you.
I know oily skin is very complex, but there are some tips for oily skin that you can do so that your skin stays under control.
Understanding Oily Skin
First of all, one must understand how oily skin functions.
By now, I think we all know that this skin type produces a good amount of oil and sebum which can be a curse and a blessing.
Because your skin ages slower but your pores are, if not always, most of the time clogged due to accumulated dead skin cells.
Since I can remember, I have battled with my skin, specially with whiteheads and blackheads.
However, I was lucky enough to find tips that helped me heal my skin drastically.
Tips For Oily Skin
Through the years, after many failed attempts, I have finally been able to control my oily skin.
And I would like to share some of the best tips for oily skin that I have come across.
Wash your face.
Through the day you are constantly exposed to bacteria and dirt from many different sources.
Such as the environment, workplace, your hands…
Therefore, washing your face is extremely important to reduce the amount of oil and getting rid of the dirt that has build up on the skin.
DON’T overcleanse as it eliminates natural oils and can damage your skin’s lipid barrier.
And AVOID using bar soaps, as they have a high pH which can cause dry and dehydrated skin.
I recommend washing your face with a gentle cleanser, because you don’t want to irritate the skin specially if you have sensitive skin.
A gentle cleanser that I have used is the Caolion Magic Black Powder Sparkling Wash Powder.
It exfoliates the skin by removing excess sebum, dead skin cells and blakcheads without irritating it.

ALWAYS use toner.
A toner focuses on getting rid of excess oil, dirt and it cleanses leftovers, that’s why you should never skip it.
It will help clear and control your skins break outs if used consistently.
which have been a miracle and have helped with my breakouts, blackheads and whiteheads.
Don’t avoid hydrating your skin, USE moisturizer.
What many people do, specially individuals with oily skin, is avoid moisturizer at all cost.
I use to be one of those people, but you should be aware that we are harming our skin.
There is a common believe that because of the fact that the skin is oily, using a moisturizer will only make it oilier.
I’m here to tell you it’s false information, oiliness has to do with the amount of oil produced.
Hydration has to do with water, so basically we are “watering” our skin.
We NEED them both, because our skin has a hydrolipidic film (made of 50% oil and 50% water) which protects our skin against bacteria.
This means that the lack of this film or if there was to be a lack of equilibrium (of oil and water) our skin would break out all the time.
So I encourage you to MOISTURIZE!
- CARRY OIL-ABSORBING SHEETS.
It’s surprising how a lot of people don’t know about these sheets, they are a wonder and do absorb most of the oil in your face, once you use them you can really see a change.

But you must not go over board because your skin will compensate for the amount of oil it has lost.
As a result, more sebum will be produced and REMEMBER that’s what we are trying to avoid.
Don’t stimulate the skin.
By this I mean, don’t try to pop any pimple or squeeze blackheads and whiteheads, they will go away with time.
Because, what this will do is, make your skin prone to break outs worsening the situation.
I know its hard to have your hands off your face, but it’s a challenge you must undergo.
I would also, suggest getting a facial twice to three times a month, depending on how’s your skin.
