This post is about 5+ reasons you need to stop using the Mario Badescu sprays and the 10+ best facial sprays to keep your skin hydrated all day.
Is Mario Badescu Skin Care safe?
Mario Badescu Skin Care is a New York born brand that focuses on offering botanical-based skincare products, their philosophy is "Simple, gentle and effective".
Their brand has been marketed as safe with the promise that their products only contain “botanical” active ingredients.
Unfortunately, their products contain very harmful ingredients, which is what has lead to my disappointment with this brand and ultimately the Mario Badescu sprays.
If you want to know why you should stop using the Mario Badescu sprays then keep reading.
5+ reasons to STOP using Mario Badescu Sprays
1.Lawsuit Was Filed Against Mario Badescu Skin Care
In 2013, 31 Mario Badescu customers filed a suit against the skin care brand, their healing cream and control cream which contained undisclosed steroids, hydrocortisone and triamcinolone acetonide, caused customers injuries.
Hydrocortisone and triamcinolone acetonide, which are prescribed by doctors, are used to treat a variety of skin conditions.
However, the complaint also alleged that the skin care products contained triamcinolone acetonide in higher than prescription-strength doses which resulted in serious health risks to the body’s adrenal system and the skin.
When the brand failed to disclose that their healing cream and control cream contained steroids, they agreed to settle claims that they had falsely advertised their skin care line as botanically-based.
You can't trust a skin care brand that has been deceitful to their customer and dismiss accountability, I know I wouldn't.
In fact, the lawsuit is one of the many reasons I stopped using the Mario Badescu sprays.
2.The Mario Badescu Sprays Contain Harmful Ingredients
Ingredients in skin care products are capable of penetrating the skin, as a result, you have to be mindful of the ingredients you're putting on your skin.
Unfortunately, the Mario Badescu sprays contain many harmful ingredients that negatively impact our health and well being.
Harmful ingredients each Mario Badescu spray has:
Mario Badescu Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater
Mario Badescu Spray With Aloe, Chamomile and Lavender
Mario Badescu Spray With Aloe, Cucumber and Green Tea
3.The Mario Badescu Sprays Contain Fragrances
Fragrances are a mixture of chemicals used in many products to impart scent through volatile organic compounds.
Volatile organic compounds are very harmful causing irritation of the eyes, nose and throat, difficulty breathing, nausea, damage of the central nervous system, kidney and liver and cancer.
Each specific VOC can cause specific health effects, details can be found in the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry Toxic Substances Portal.
Symptoms of VOCs Exposure
- Conjunctival irritation
- Nose and throat discomfort
- Headache
- Allergic skin reaction
- Dyspnea
- Declines in serum cholinesterase levels
- Nausea
- Emesis
- Epistaxis
- Fatigue
- Dizziness
Many chemicals used to create fragrances are classified as neurotoxins, carcinogens, hormone disruptors, asthma triggers and allergens.
Phthalates, which are common chemicals in fragrances that help scents last for a long time, cause cancer, human reproductive and developmental toxicity, birth defects, endocrine disruption and respiratory problems.
Fragrances each Mario Badescu spray has:
Mario Badescu Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater
Mario Badescu Spray With Aloe, Chamomile and Lavender
Mario Badescu Spray With Aloe, Cucumber and Green Tea
WATCH OUT
Fragrances are considered “trade secrets” under the US Fair Packaging and Labeling Act, so manufacturers are not obliged to list on product labels their fragrance ingredients.
As a result, “fragrance” is used on the label to hide all the toxic ingredients used.
According to the IFRA (International Fragrance Association), natural fragrances don't have official regulation, therefore, they can be as toxic and allergenic as synthetic fragrances.
4.The Mario Badescu Sprays Contain Colorants
Colorants are dyes or pigments made from coal tar or by products of petroleum, aka coal-tar dyes or synthetic-organic colors, used to color a material.
They cause cancer, skin irritation and sensitization, allergies and pore blockage.
Colorants, as well as, fragrances should be avoided because they pose serious health threats.
Colorants each Mario Badescu spray has:
Mario Badescu Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater
Mario Badescu Spray With Aloe, Chamomile and Lavender
Mario Badescu Spray With Aloe, Cucumber and Green Tea
5.Mario Badescu Skin Care Side Effects
In addition to symptoms of irritation, many customers have experienced the following side effects after using Mario Badescu Skin Care products:
- Folliculitis: inflammation of hair follicles.
- Hypertrichosis: excessive amount of hair growth.
- Acneiform eruptions: group of skin lesions.
- Hypopigmentation: loss of melanin.
- Perioral dermatitis: inflammation of the skin around the mouth.

6. Mario Badescu Skin Care Has Low Expert Rating
According to beauty expert and owner of Beautypedia, Paula Begoun also known as "The Cosmetics Cop", Mario Badescu Skin Care is not safe.
Paula's team reviewed 60 Mario Badescu Skin Care products for beautypedia.com, all which have very low rating; the Mario Badescu sprays included.
Alternatives to Mario Badescu Sprays
To maintain our skin healthy and radiant, choosing good skin care products is essential.
