I’ll be honest, part of how to take care of my skin is through a step by step skin care routine.
But you don’t need to have an intensive and complex skincare regime in order to take care of your skin.
In fact, there are basic tips, which you can follow in order to pamper yourself.
How To Take Care of Your Skin?
To make life easy for you and save you from frustration, I thought of letting you know about those basic tips.
To be completely truthful not long ago, I found it so hard to cope with all the information I’d research online.
But by simply following these tips, it made a huge difference on my skin.
Protecting the Skin From the Sun
When I was younger and ignorant, I use to go tanning all summer long.
But as I started learning and became aware of the skincare world, I realized how harmful the sun is, if not taken the necessary precautions.
That’s why it is extremely important for you to learn how to take care of your skin from the damages caused by the sun.
Otherwise, there is a high possibility for you to experience age spots, wrinkles, skin cancer and many other problems on the skin.
In case you didn’t know, skin cancer, also known as melanoma, is one of the most common types of cancer.
It is mainly caused by exposure to UV light (from the sun) because it damages DNA which affects the growth of skin cells.
This is just one of the reasons as to why you need to use sunscreen and should also wear protective clothing when you go out.
Since I have very oily skin, I’ve always been careful with the products I buy since I don’t like the sticky sensation some give.
Luckily, I have had the opportunity of using several sun screens, among the best of which I can mention are:
I have been using the ISDIN Sunscreen for a month and I LOVE it.
My oily skin can get irritated and my pores clogged if I don’t use a good sunscreen and so far this one has done the trick.
As of 2019, data on global smoking shows that there are 1.1 billion smokers.
Smoking is a bad habit, which has the ability to create major negative impacts on your skin.
One of those being that it exposes you to 93 harmful chemicals that can cause several health problems.
If you keep on smoking, your skin will be subjected to wrinkles.
As a result, you will look unhealthy and old because the nicotine in cigarettes has the ability to narrow down small blood vessels that creates less blood flow.
In turn, your skin doesn’t get as much oxygen and important vitamins as it use to.
I have never been a smoker but after some thorough research, I found two things that could be helpful for people who are looking to stop smoking.
The first one being reading a Allen Carr’s Easy Way To Stop Smoking which is a self-help book.
All the positive feedback amazes me, people claim they have stopped smoking immediately after reading the book.
Again I am no smoker but if you are, might as well give it a try and let me know if it has worked for you.
Now I know some might be skeptical and may not even read the book or read in general.
It is then that I would recommend you using Nicotine Patches, because it helps deliver nicotine fast and steadily all day long to help manage nicotine cravings.
Consume a Healthy Diet
I use to not eat fruits nor vegetables, I know, weird.
But ever since I was little I never tasted or liked them, there was something about the smells and textures I just didn’t like.
I was constantly told that fruits and vegetables are vital to ones health.
So It didn’t come as a shock when I learned that fruits are vegetables are of the many key steps to radiant and glowy skin.
It wasn’t until I was 15 that I started eating vegetables.
Fruits, on the other hand, still not a fan off.
Truth is skin care and nutrition go by hand, you can’t have great looking skin if you don’t eat the necessary nutrients your skin needs.
That’s why you should take appropriate measures in order to consume a healthy diet.
Eat lots of vegetables, fruits, lean proteins and whole grains.
I know it’s not easy but stay away from refined carbohydrates and unhealthy fats.
Because oil production increases and it ages your skin.
Manage Your Stress Levels
Now that I’m older and more mature, I know that stress can cause major damage to your mental, as well as, physical health.
Stress is something I constantly battle with, and honestly I wish I had more control over it.
Facts are that, there is a strong relationship between your stress levels and the way you look.
And that’s why I use different methods to cope with my stress.
My Recommendations for Managing Your Stress
When I was younger, the first time I came across stress balls was when my dad and I where taking a ride around our city and I asked what it was, which he then shortly explained.
Ever since I just loved the idea behind stress balls, squashing them rather than punching a wall until all the stress is out is a good way for me to cope with the stress.
Another method I use to cope with stress is the use of essential oils.
I truly feel completely relaxed when I smell them, I use a diffuser which is the best way to keep the aroma following throughout the day.
Each essential oil has a different functions, for instance, lavender oil reduces stress, improves mental concentration, calms feelings of anxiety and alleviates insomnia.
When you are stressed out, your skin becomes more sensitive and reactive.
As a result, there is a high possibility of triggering various skin issues.
Many studies show that specific stressors trigger vitiligo.
Therefore, If there are any stress causing factors, you need to take appropriate steps to get rid of them.
I know it’s easier said than done but it is true, you must get rid of them.
So that you maintain a healthy state of mind at all times and a youthful appearance.
If you want to take proper care of your skin, you must manage your stress levels.
How Take Care of Your Skin Even Deeper
Yes, I am a skin picker, I am constantly picking on my skin.
The worst part is that I am completely aware that by picking on it, I’m just scarring and irritating my skin.
That’s why I use the Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch which helps with breakouts.
As a result, I am less prone to pick on my skin.
In addition to this, long hot water showers are in a position to eliminate oils located in your skin.
Therefore, you need to limit your bath time; you can use your phones timer to count the time you spend bathing.
Along with that, you are also encouraged to refrain from using strong soaps, as well as, being mindful at the time of shaving.
You need to apply a shaving lotion or a cream in order to protect the skin and lubricate it.
You should also moisturize your skin and keep it protected.
These are just a few of the most important tips I follow, to be able to take care of my skin, which make a difference.
I hope they work for you as well, let me know what tips do you follow? Which ones to recommend?
