Knowing how to choose skin care products is important, now that you have identified your skin type.

With so many skincare products in the market,  it can be overwheling finding products that work for your specific type of skin.

You are potentially using skin care products that are aggravating your skin by causing irritation, oil overproduction, breakouts and even exessive dryout.

Keep on reading if you’re interested in learning how to choose skin care products that are meant and are effective for your skin type.

Skincare Ingredients a Foreign Language

Ingredients in skin care products are named by the International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients, which is not consumer friendly and it’s like reading a foreign language, difficult to understand.

Most times , searching in the internet can lead to confusion and frustration, so people opt to buy whats’s trendy or recommended by family, friends or influencers.

Unfortunately, there’s no one-size-fits-all skin care product and what works for someone else might not work for you.

That’s why an individualized approach, despite taking much longer to figure out is important because you need skin care products formulated with the right ingredients that work for your skin.

Stick With Products You Like

My skin, used to be a mess, so every chance I would get to pick or squeeze a pustule (aka pimple)I would go in for the kill.

I wish my younger self would have listened and follow through without touching my skin, when dermatologists emphasized it many times, because as someone who suffers from post inflammatory hyperpigmentation it took years of treatment for the PIH to fade.

It’s tough not to do it, believe me I know, but you’re harming your skin and leaving scars.

Finding good skin care products is HARD because there are SO many in the market and you’re unaware of how effective the product is and wether it delivers the promised results.

You need to be an educated consumer which means that you need to be correctly informed when purchasing skin care products.

Don’t fall for the skin care products experts , as well as, influencers swear by that because most of them are just scams based on false advertising.

What I would recommend is that once you really like a product, stick with it.

Here’s a list of skin care products for oily skin, I use these skin care products daily and it makes a huge difference in my skin.

If you’re not seeing results, after 6 to 12 weeks, using a particular product do your research and incorporate a new one.

Be extra careful which new product you incorporate in your skincare routine when having sensitive skin because it could create an allergic reaction or even worse cause more breakouts.

Your Skin Type Determines which Skin Care Products You Use

As mentioned before, we have five skin type:

  • Normal
  • Oily
  • Dry
  • Combination
  • Sensitive

They are treated very different and that’s why you ought to know what’s your priority.

It really depends on where your skin is now and where you’d like it to be.

I personally have oily acne prone skin, which means I suffer from blackheads, whiteheads and pimples.

If I don’t take care of my skin every day, I immediately start to break out.

All skin types have their issues and it takes time to treat them, so don’t expect an overnight miracle.

Choose Good Skin Care Products

We choose what skin care products to use based on our skin type but there’s one common factor to always keep for all skin types in mind which is hydration.

Hydration is the key to a healthy complexion because it improves elasticity which in turn reduces the appearance of wrinkles.

Good skin care products rely on the ingredients in the product, the percentage of these ingredients and how it’s formulated.

Here are the skin care products you should be using, A.M. and P.M., with their respected ingredients, percentage and formulation for your skin type:
